Ok, it’s 2021. Get your head back in it. Forget all the doubts and uncertainties of 2020 and concentrate on the business at hand. We have a river to explore!
This spring we will explore the St. John’s River in central Florida. This river has been the backbone of transportation in central Florida for centuries and we will use it to travel to Sanford, Florida on Lake Monroe.

Our route will take us over 150 miles inland from the Atlantic ICW. We will make at least four stops along the way to get a feel for what Florida is like away from the madding beach crowds and where “normal” people live.
When you look at the end of our route on the map, to the East, you will see New Smyrna Beach! This is our Mar. 1 destination, but how do we get there??? Ha, we have to turn around and go back up to Jacksonville as there is no route over to the Ocean that we could navigate. And, oddly, the St. Johns flows North. So back down, (up?) the river we will go, making different stops on the way up and out!
We are hoping to have many encounters with wildlife, while on the river. Manatee, alligators and birds of all types. We shall see.
Sounds as if you will have a great adventure.
