A two year plan…….
This all started with “maybe we should get a boat and leave it in Florida.” After much shopping (mostly online), we ended up with a much smaller, trailerable boat than was originally discussed! So, follow along on our adventure as we go from sailors to powerboaters and back to sailors….
That first boat was a 1990 Bayliner Ciera 2556 named ” BOB “. We found it in Superior, WI and after a complete re-hab we spent 3 seasons in Florida on it. During that time, we discovered that we liked the lifestyle but the boat was too small.
Then came ” r j “, a 1989 Sea Ray 300 Sedan Bridge named after Robert Joseph Smith, Mona’s dad who instilled the travel bug in Mona at an early age. She still follows Bob’s lead and shares things through his eyes and sense of adventure. ” r j ” was a fine boat but not made for the long distances that our exploration has turned into.
So, we looked for a more long distance vessel, and found “Pursuit”, a Trans Pacific Eagle 32 Pilot House Trawler. She is a tug style vessel with lots of room and has the range to allow us to be a bit more self-sufficient as we make our way down the east coast and quite possibly beyond.
This blog will follow Joe, Mona and their dog Coconut as they travel from Amery, WI to their favorite Florida beach town, New Smyrna Beach and points beyond.
