BOB’s Final Chapter?

Today is the day we say goodbye to BOB. After 2 days of clearing, cleaning, organizing and packing, we hauled 12 dock cart loads from BOB to shore. We rented a U-Haul trailer to take our boating stuff north to be place on the next boat and stuffed the Tahoe to the rafters with things going home.

We also said goodbye to our beloved NSB this week, visiting our favorite spots, Turtle Mound Park, JB’s Fish Camp, Breakers Beach Bar on Flagler Avenue. I guess it isn’t goodbye because we will be back, but who knows when.

We had our last ride on BOB over to the ramp to get her on the trailer to go to the Consignment Broker. The last haul out went better than any in the past. We just pulled up to the launch dock, backed the trailer in underneath and hand guided the boat onto the trailer. Mona was very relieved that the process was finished and over with. We drove to the brokers lot and signed the papers to put BOB on the market. Sad to drive away knowing that all the planning and work that we did is now going to be someone else’s dream. We know that we are turning over a very good boat with a lot of life left in her. We hope that she will carry her new owner to all kinds of adventures and pleasures. Who knows, BOB might learn how to fish again. We hope that she spends a lot of time at the beach.

All in all, BOB and the “2 year plan” provided us with more than we expected. We worked, learned, played, explored, and discovered so much with BOB that we will never forget the big part of our lives she played. We have formed a basis of southern boating that hopefully will continue into the future.

And so, we head back to our home to reconnect with that life and spend the winter planning the next phase of this crazy idea of….. “Hey, what if we bought a boat to keep in Florida”.
