We trailered Bob from New Smyrna to St. Augustine on Halloween. It’s about 50 miles. We arrived at the launch ramp with about 4 hours to kill before high tide. We needed high tide to get Bob in the water– sometimes she is a big boat. Four hours seemed like a long time but it took almost that long to get the boat ready for launch! We were fortunate there was a bait shop at the ramp with a talkative employee. He told us we needed to head north a bit around a buoy before heading south or we would run into a sand bar. Good to know. We have learned to talk to people about local knowledge.

We arrived at the St. Augustine Municipal Marine without incident. Every Marina we have stayed at so far guides you by radio into your slip and has dock hands to help you tie up. Very nice. Makes coming into a new Marina a lot less stressful.
St. Augustine was discovered by Spanish explorers in 1565. Fifty-five years before the pilgrims landed at Plymouth Rock! If you’ve been here, you will remember the Fort, Castillo de San Marcos.
I’ve been here several times, mostly with my parents. There was a trip with my friend Jacki but those details are faint 😙 We look forward to exploring the City and nearby beaches. Due to hurricane damage to the docks, we can only have a slip here for a week. Our first night started great right across the street with cocktails, dinner and live music–all on a dog friendly patio.
Note the restaurant was established in 1790!
