Well, we’ve got a week to go before hitting the road. So far, we’ve taken a used boat and made it our own. Joe has removed equipment that the previous owner(s) used for fishing and repaired all the holes left over. The bow sprit / anchor roller was removed, repaired and repainted. The water tank was patched up. The fly bridge bimini was installed and a new canvas enclosure for the cockpit was created by Canvas Craft in Ostego, MN. Various electrical issues were discovered and corrected including new outlets throughout the cabin to make living aboard more comfortable. After a thorough cleaning, Mona went to work on the interior. She re-upholstered all the cabin cushions, made new pillows, re-covered the window trim strips and made new curtains. Wow! What a difference that made! The boat is now homey and comfy and will provide us a nice place to hang out.

Speaking of hanging out, the one crew member we haven’t mentioned yet is Coconut. She is our four pawed, white furry Westie mix companion. She is an expert on hanging out and will be the topic of many on our upcoming posts.
Well, we leave in a week and will chronical our adventure as we travel south through Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, Tennessee, Alabama and Florida pulling our “Two Year Plan”.
More later……
