How It All Started

imageA two year plan…….

This all started with “maybe we should get a boat and leave it in Florida.”  After much shopping (mostly online), we ended up with a much smaller trailerable boat than was originally discussed!  Mostly because of Mona’s fear of docking a large boat.  So, follow along on our adventure as we go from sailors to powerboaters and back to sailors….

The boat is a 1990 Bayliner Ciera 2556.  We purchased it in Superior, Wisconsin.  She needed work and a name.  The work has been ongoing most of the summer.  Joe overhauled the entire trailer making it safe for its long tow to Florida.  We both worked on the inside, upgrading wiring, electronics, canvas and upholstery.  She is small but seems to have everything we might need.  After all, we’ll be spending most of our time on the beach!

Secondly, we needed a name.  The first plan was “Tiny Dancer”.  We liked it but didn’t love it.  We then hit on “Bob”.  The boat will certainly be bobbing in the water but the name is in honor of my dad if it weren’t for him, we would never have landed in New Smyrna Beach.  So, thanks dad!
